Golden Gate Farne Islands Boat Trips sail from the harbour in Seahouses, Northumberland. They are the only boat allowed to land on Longstone and the only boat allowed to tour the Longstone Lighthouse Visitor Centre.

Their main tour is their exclusive Longstone Island tour. You will take a boat trip to the island where you will enjoy a guided tour of the lighthouse. This was made famous by the local heroine Grace Darling when she and her Dad rescued 9 men from a capsized boat.

You will sail around the islands, see the wealth of seabirds and visit the grey seal colony. There is a fee to visit the lighthouse, they only take cash but they are not expensive to visit. This is a two-hour tour.

Another tour is their Inner Farne Bird Sanctuary trip. This tour includes a cruise around the island to view the nesting seabirds and visit the grey seal colony. You will land at Inner Farne which is maintained by the National Trust. Non-members will need to pay a fee to the National Trust. This tour lasts for 2.5-3 hours. There is also a Farne Island sail-around trip which doesn’t land plus sunset cruises.

What are the main things to do?

A range of boat trips to the Farne Islands with one trip stopping for a visit to the Longstone Lighthouse and another on Inner Farne. The boat doesn’t have toilets. There are toilets for the trips that land.

Dog friendly?

Well-behaved dogs are welcome aboard our boats, however, they are not allowed on the National Trust islands. They can be left aboard the boat where they will be looked after until your return.
